Cozy in the Catskills: FoxFire Mountain House
Sitting in an old, eclectic chair next to the warm, burning fire in a beautifully renovated cottage house, it is 6am in the Catskills, NY. It feels as if the rest of the world has not yet risen. This mountain house is a fairytale-like setting.
I found this gem, thanks to a few of my past brides whom married here. The moment I stepped into the cottage, I knew I had to stay here myself.
There is something about nature, and woods and water in particular that changes us. Working in NYC is great, but all of the busy, hectic energy and nonstop overstimulation, calls for an escape to the mountains, allowing for time to reconnect. Being around the mountains and trees, is the perfect place to recharge and refuel. I find when we allow ourselves to spend more time in nature, we experience increased happiness, more relaxed and calmer state of mind, and better sleep and energy. After a nature get a way, I always feel more inspired and creative. Maybe it’s time for you to get more creative, relaxed or recharged; time for you tap into nature to elevate your mind and body. If your thinking YES, I recommend this enchanted place that offers ten acres of land, free to explore.
Foxfire Cottage house has a large, full kitchen and dining table. We enjoyed playing Frank Sinatra pandora radio, while cooking.
I was tempted to stay in my pajamas all day and enjoy the toasty fire (and trying to keep the warmth of the fire alive)
The best part about this place is no cell service, making it the perfect environment to turn off your notifications and turn on your senses. When you enjoy your stay here, don’t look but SEE. Take note of the details in the environment. The gentle fall breeze and crisp morning air. The sounds of the chirping birds and occasional croaks of bullfrogs coming from the small pond on the property. Make sure to go with the right people. It’s about connecting and conversation here.
Foxfire Mountain house will soon be open as a restaurant coming this December. Also be sure to check out their events as they will be offering some great ones soon. The cottage costed $350 per night and fits up to 6-8 people. I went with 4 people, and thought that was perfect. Enjoy reconnecting! Xx
